VisitWorcester Tourist Centre
Visit Worcester’s Tourist Information Centre is situated in a wing of the Grade I listed Guildhall in Worcester High Street. The existing shopfit was tired and dated with a layout that hindered both customer circulation and the effective display of merchandise and information. The brief to entirely redevelop the Centre‘s visual appearance included an overhaul of the physical space as well as the development of a strong branding concept. The objective was to encourage visitors to the Centre as much for the retail offering as for the information available, and to create an experience that was uniquely ‘Worcester’, celebrating the history and culture of the city.
Our approach focused on developing a styling that blends tradition with modernity, and to layer a more contemporary look over the existing historic framework. The result is a warm, inviting and vibrant retail space. The ‘Worcester story’ weaves through the design, with stunning photographic images above each unit relating to the product below. The curved front of the counter and gondolas are covered in a quirky ‘word frieze’ which relates interesting facts about Worcestershire’s history, people and industry.
[dropcap1]“[/dropcap1]The project receives constant praise from customers and local stakeholders alike. The key achievement is in how we have been able to use a small shop area and make it seem really spacious, adding extra shelves and storage at the same time. Sales of products have increased enormously as a result of the refit.”
